The Prophetic Example of Continuing Education: 12 Lessons [Sketchnotes]

"Lifelong learning" is a term which originated in the West in the 1920's and was popularized in the 1970's, however it is a concept which has been deeply rooted in Islam from the start.  In fact there are almost 800 references in the Qur'an where the acquisition of knowledge is highlighted. Shaykh Ramzy demonstrates this by elaborating on the story of Musa (alayhi salaam) who Allah blessed with knowledge and spoke to directly, yet he still traveled a great distance to seek more knowledge.

These notes are from a webinar hosted by the Islamic Teacher Education Program,  with Shaykh Ramzy Ajem.

The webinar was really good and I highly recommend watching it for yourself. It's amazing to me that the original commentator Imam Fakhruddin al-Razi (d. 1209), derived such detailed exegesis from a single short ayah (which I know isn't uncommon among scholars of tafseer but amazing nonetheless).
